Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has joined Dutch club Ajax on a short-term contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old defensive midfielder became a free agent after leaving Tottenham in June. He had been without a club since his departure from the Premier League side.
Bissouma has signed a deal that runs until the end of the current season, although the contract includes an option to extend his stay for another 12 months, according to BBC Sport.
Ajax had been working on a deal for the midfielder for several weeks. The club's technical director, Jordi Cruyff, said discussions with Bissouma had been ongoing since August.
"We have brought in an experienced player who knows what it takes to perform at the highest level," Cruyff said on Ajax's official website. "He is capable of playing in several positions, and we hope he will be available for selection as soon as possible."
Bissouma brings considerable experience to Ajax after spending several years in English football. He previously played for Brighton & Hove Albion before moving to Tottenham, where he featured in the Premier League and European competitions.
His arrival gives Ajax another experienced option in midfield as the club continues its campaign in domestic and European football.
